Artsy Wednesday - Inspired by a Celebrity Manicure: So many faces..

Hi all :)

Yes, I am busy.. I'm writing an exam paper in a group with four others - the project is awesome, but it does take the most of my time.. I actually thought I wouldn't have the time to do this weeks Artsy Wednesday, but I managed it! Partly because I did something super easy :p

Since I'm not into all this celebrity-thingy I had no idea which manicures the celebrities are having.. But I did a quick google search and found a mani that I was pretty sure I could squeeze in..

Here's mine:

And here's Rihanna modelling her super simple nails:
Imagesource
I took it up a notch and added different kind of smileyfaces and did some more 'details'.. But still very simple =) And I love it! The yellow I used is so bright (lighter and brighter than in my photo) and it really fits the weather we are having at the moment.. it's freakishly hot - way too hot if you asked me! I hope it'll cool down soon or it'll be a hell of a long summer :p

The involved:
Ask if you wanna know any names :)

And you need to check out the other girls' celebrity manis! I'm sure they are more fancy and blingy than mine! haha Just a hunch, I don't really know! But I'm looking forward to finding out :)

I'm even more behind on my Google Reader than ever! sigh.. do I ever catch up? I really want to comment on all your posts, but the time isnt there :/ Hope you can forgive me :p

Artsy Wednesday - Newsprint Nails: Magnetic print..

Hi all :)

This week's challenge is newsprint nails.. I couldn't get my ahnds on some of that rubbing alcohol, so I found some alcohol from my shelf and used that.. It turned out okay, but it tacked up my completely dry base color a bit, so there's some smudging going on here.. haha..

But I really enjoyed this combo :)

The thumb is my fave! But the whole design has more depth IRL, thanks to the magnetic polish..

A close-up:

I've gotten a new computer (yay!), but am having trouble getting my Paint Shop Pro to work properly, so I had to use my old (and slooow) computer to edit these pics.. I'm hoping to get it to work soon, but maybe I'll be gone for a bit..

Have fun and take care =)

Gradient on nude..

Hi all :)

On to my other hand.. Now you can see why it was a bit confusing for me to have these two very different manis on each hand..

Since it's extremely difficult for me to take photos of my right hand, you only get one and it's kind of weird compared to pics of my left hand :p

Stamping didn't go as well as I'd hoped, but I looooooove the gradient.. take a closer look:

The involved:

Do you ever do different designs on each hands because you can't decide?

Have fun and take care :)

Nude'N'Neon: Splattered and framed

Hi all :)

For a while, I've wanted an opaque nude that match my skintone.. I've now found one that is somehow close.. Probably the closest I can get, since my skin is very red-toned-ish.. So as soon that I got my hands on it and tried it out, I wanted to do a couple of designs I've had in my mind for when I got a polish like that..

So instead of doing one first and then save the other for next time I wanted a nude-ish mani, I did one of each hand.. I'll show my left hand today..

All these pics (except the last one) is taken with my phone, so that the neon would be a bit closer to the color IRL. Imagine them a bit brighter than in these pics ;)

Aah, so bright :) For some reason I thought I could keep the splatter on just one nail, but I didn't do a good enough job at keeping the other nails out of reach, so they got a bit of splatter too ;) But I like that effect!

The involved (see how much the colors differ from the pics taken with my phone?):

I really enjoy this mani! But it is a bit confusing to have such different manis on each hand.. You'll see what I mean when I show you my other hand ;)

How do you like the Nude'N'Neon trend? Do you have an opaque nude polish that matches you skintone? And can you recommend one for me?

Have fun and take care =)

Artsy Wednesday - Candy/Sweets: Wrapped candy!

Hi all :)

This week's theme is:   Candy/Sweets.. This has been the most difficult theme for me inspiration-wise.. Even though I could acknowledge a lot of candy and sweets as inspiration for a mani nothing really inspired me.. Even though I spent way to much time at the candy aisles while grocery shopping.. Nothing spoke to me..

So even though I wanted to be inspired by some specific candy, I ended up taking the easy way out.. and then stumble upon it on the way.. sigh.. that means this mani is a fail for me too.. It just doesn't speak to me :/

So I went with wrapped candy.. And I tried it out on a nail wheel first, so I wouldn't screw it up.. But somehow I did.. I just think this is too crowded and busy.. But at least it has a lot of colors going on :D

I like my thumb the best, but couldn't get a decent photo of it..

The involved:
Ask if you wanna know any names :)
You might have noticed that I've used a different background in these images.. I bought this plastic-thingy to protect my desk (since I spill nail polish and remover on it all the time plus other exciting stuff) and I thought it was soo cute! So I tried using it as a backdrop, and I kind of like that the background is lighter in these photos than usual.. So I might stick to it and I might go back to my old one.. Which background do you prefer?

Here's a shot of the plastic-thingy.. It's semi-transparent so it's my desk you can see through it..

Don't forget to check out the other girls' candy/sweets mani - hopefully they did a better job than me ;)

I haven't had time to answer you comments yet :/ I might not do it, because I rather want to catch up on all your blog posts instead, when I have the time to do it.. I hope you can all forgive me, but I'm writing an exam project atm which requires my attention.. But I do read and appreciate every single comment! It makes me so happy :)

Failed flowers and glitter..

Hi all :)

Prepare for a rambling about this failed mani of mine.. :)

Not long ago I found a cheap polish that reminded me a lot of Essie Navigate her.. I've been wanting the Essie for a long time, but couldn't justify buying it.. So I happily snatched the Hot Makeup looking like it and I've been telling myself that it is close enough so I don't need navigate her.. Let's see how long that lasts :p

Further back I got my hands on some cheap Collection 2000 polishes - one of them was Hot Looks Lola.. Since then I've wanted to layer it on top of an army green or another kind of green to resemble one of the new RBL blogger-polishes, that was inspired by succulent plants. I had that green/pink combo in my head since.. I know this doesn't look like that polish at all, but I was after the combo ;)

Allright so my two 'new' polishes were a match made in heaven IMO. And it looked gorgeous!! Unfortunately I don't have a pic of that combo alone..

I then made a glitter franken, that I wanted to layer over my Hot Makeup wannabenaviagteher.. I tried it on my nail wheel and it looked fantastic! The next day when I wanted to do the mani, some glitter had bleeded a little bit.. I thought it wouldn't show up much on top of the base color, but I was wrong. I thought it made the green to dark, so I tried to lighten it up a bit b y adding Cover Girl Nail Slick Mint Sorbet on top.. It worked! So it ended up being a kind of glitter sandwich.. Not what I wanted but it worked for me..

I stamped and filled out the image with OPI The Show Must Go On.. Okay I'll shut up now!

Mmm close-up so you can see the duochrome of The Show Must Go On and the awesome shimmer of Collection 2000 Hot Looks Lola..

I love it in that close-up but otherwise the mani was a fail.. Nonetheless I wore it for 5 days because I didn't have the time to change my mani.. sigh..

I can't believe I rambled on about this mani so much, but I kind of wanted to explain the idea behind this mani..

I'm still hopelessly behind on reading blog posts! And my nails are naked! AArrggh! haha

Have fun and take care ;)

Artsy Wednesday - Greyscale: Bursting stripes

Hi all :)

Today's theme is greyscale..  I took inspiration from Michelle's stripe mani and made it into a half moon mani :)

I think I made the half moon part too big, but I really like it anyway :)
