Yay for my followers!

As of this moment I have 51 followers through GFC! I'm so happy for that :) Each time I get another follower I get excited! haha..

I'm so happy that there's people out there who are interested in what I'm doing here.. And I looove when you comment! It makes it all worth while.. It makes my day! hah

I just want you all to know that I appreciate you following me a lot! :) And if you have anything to say to me, bring it on! heh..

But.. I'm not going to thank you all with a giveaway.. Not right now at least.. I have a kind of ambivalent relationship to giveaways.. Somehow I don't like them.. I would feel that if I was hosting a giveaway, people would start following my blog because of that.. And I wouldn't want that..

I have a quote from my curriculum that I think coined it.. Or.. not really.. but I like it.. :)

"Tribal rank and renown are developed by great public giveaways sponsored by the rising big-man..." (Sahlins 1963:291)

Sahlins, Marshall D. 1963. Poor man, rich man, big-man, Chief: Political Types in Melanesia and Polynesia. In Comparative Studies in Society and History. 5:285-300.

And I don't wanna be a blogger, who have gotten my followers through a giveaway.. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but I wouldn't feel comfy doing it.. :)

And with this statement, from now on I won't participate in giveaways on any blog :) I'll still participate in competitions and stuff, but that's different :) Just so I'm 'backing up' my statement..

So I'll just have to use my words to tell you all how much I appreciate you guys :D haha..

So, now I wanna know: What do you think about my statement? Was it an unnecessary 'rant'? Does it even make sense? Isn't it just an awesome curriculum I have? I haven't offended anyone, have I? Basically I wanna know what you feel about this post, my opinion, the blog or whatever you have on your mind! (Also if you have anything bad to say about me and my statement and all that.. I wanna know it all) :)

Allright, I'll stop bothering you now :p

  1. I understand where you're coming from. I, personally, loving hosting giveaways because well.. I love giving stuff away. Haha I'm sure there are people that do it to get followers but I just enjoy spreading the love. I'm like that in my "real life". Whenever I meet someone new I always bring a gift so I suppose I translated that into the blogging world.

Do what you love and run your blog the way you want to. It's YOUR blog. :)

  2. Hi, Swaafie!

I don't think it's a rant. I do understand how exciting it feels when you see a new follower. I am like that too. It's a good feeling that someone followed you without anything in return aside from friendship and your lovely posts! :)

  3. Rachel: WOw, that must be a lot of gift giving then :) I admire that! But I'm glad you understand my reasoning :)

Rina: Yay, I'm glad I'm not the only one feeling so happy about followers! haha..

Thanks both of you for commenting with your thoughts :D It's lovely!

  4. I completely agree with you. I'd rather have a few followers who are actually interested in my blog than a ton of followers who are waiting for a giveaway (not that I don't enjoy them myself!). Besides, I like to blog more for myself and not to please others. I really love your creativity though!
